The A8V Deluxe’s north bridge heat sink is a little close to the CPU socket, but the cooler is a low-profile design, so it shouldn’t get in the way. Having IDE ports facing out from the edge of a board makes ribbon routing that much easier, especially in cramped cases. Some will hate the floppy edge connector, but we liked getting it out of the way, and the floppy is also a connector many users don’t use any way. Its socket Athlon64 was a single channel DDR solution, and asua socket AthlonFX and Opteron solutions were out of the reach of most consumers budget, and interest. With so many integrated peripherals, the A8V Deluxe’s port cluster is necessarily stacked.
The layout of components on the Asus A8V is pretty good, and the one aspect I especially like is the Asuw status light Which brings us back to the pale brown Asus A8V motherboard.
Still, for a high-end board like the A8V Deluxe, a little style and just a touch of bling wouldn’t hurt. In those kits which would serve as the first introduction for its newest processor, the company included the Asus A8V motherboard.
